Minnesota 'N Ice: Hiking the Frozen Backwaters with The Winona Outdoor Collaborative

Today we hit the backwaters of the Mississippi river with an outdoor hike organized by the Winona Outdoor Collaborative. The hike started at Latsch Beach, went across the wagon bridge and through Aghaming Park and Reserve. Alexa Shapiro, the Operations Director for the Winona Outdoor Collaborative will be our guide today. Alexa fills us in on some of the cool experiences the WOC offers and she gives us some tips for winter hiking. I’m Bill Stoneberg, with WOC Operations Director Alexa Shapiro on Culture Clique. Original air date: 02/17/22 Art Beat is written and produced by KQAL on the campus of Winona State University and is made possible by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
Winter in Minnesota. It’s a lot of different things to a lot of different people. Some love it, some hate it, but we all get through (deal with) it… somehow. Some people like to hunker down and cozy up to a fire and some like to get outside and play in the cold.

We’ve all heard of MN nice, well get ready for Minnesota ‘N Ice, a special Culture Clique series where we’ll take a look at the way Minnesotans and Winonans in particular get out and enjoy our frozen waters.
